In 2011 Alroh celebrates 60 years of lawn and manufacturing excellence.
The first Alroh was designed and built by Alan Robert Hair in Perth, Western Australia back in 1951.
It was boom time in Perth, and the growing population and number of home-owners had led to a growing trend for carefully and lovingly tended back lawns.
Hair’s strong durable mower was built to be perfectly suited to Australian conditions. Made at their Subiaco premises, Alroh soon produced a hugely successful range of domestic and commercial mowers.
Over the years, although the business changed hands several times, manufacturing always remained in Perth.
Alroh moved to its current Bayswater home when MEY Equipment bought Alroh in 2005.
Under MEY’s care, the decision was made to focus the Alroh brand solely on its successful domestic mowers. The design of the Alroh was refined and modernised, including the introduction of commercial grade cylinders and hardened Sheffield steel blades on the complete residential range.
Alroh’s beautiful lawn mowing machines continue to be lovingly manufactured, distributed and serviced at MEY’s Bayswater factory, now the only significant manufacturer of cylinder mowers in Australia.
